Building a Valuable Email List

Today we are discussing five different opt-in ideas to grow your mailing list. Once you know your customer it’s time to give them something valuable that introduces them to your brand while building your ideal customer list.

Having an email list is the best way to connect with your customers. Although social media is a wonderful source for finding new people, having them take the next step and join your list is the goal.

Building a relationship with your customers is such a crucial part to the success of your business. Think of some of your favorite people in your life, what are the qualities that they hold? How can you bring that into your business so that you will be a favorite for your audience?

So what is an opt-in?
An opt-in is a tool used to gain email list subscribers. It shouldn’t cost anything for your customers but should provide value to your customer. It is a free offer that triggers that action for them to sign-up. When done properly, this opt-in should target your ideal audience to help you build a list of people that are interested in your brand message and what your business can offer them.

So let’s get into the five opt-in ideas for your creative business!

One

The easiest way to get a list growing is to provide a coupon code. The code can get them a percent or dollar amount off of your entire site or just a select item. This is a great way to bring in sales as well.

I’m sure you’ve signed up for those lists before that tell you sign up and get 15% off yoru first order! Who doesn’t want extra savings? Plus theya re already on your website so they were already intending to purchase or at least take a look at what you offer. Use this to your advantage to gain first time customers.

Two

Create a mini training! Depending on your niche there might be something you can teach your audience in a video form. If you sell journals, create a mini video training that shows them how they can use journals for healing in their lives. It could be a 15 minute video that you film showing them the best techniques you use for your journaling sessions.

Think of this trianing as a way to connect with them on a deeper level. It should give them actions to take away and apply to their life. Having your product included in some way is bonus. A great example of this is training that I did for my stationery business back in February. Check out the FEAR Model for Goals to see how it’s set up.

Three

Design and provide them with a PDF guide. This can be perfect for so many different creating product based businesses. Let’s say you specifically target active moms that buy fitness stickers and stationery items. You could create a guide that gives them 5 Tips to Getting the Perfect Workout while the kids are home.

Think about what the customers pain points may be. How could you offer them something that is outside of just what you sell to give them encouragement. These are the golden list builders!

Four

Share your favorite music playlist. If you have certain types of music you listen to during your creative process, share it! Connect with your audience in a way that gives them a look into your taste and what keeps you inspired. Encourage them to share it with you when they use it so you can share it with others. It will create a domino effect and more people will want to know whats on your amazing list!

Five

Try Before They Buy. This is a great way to for customers to sample something of yours that they can print out at home and use. If you sell planners, maybe let them sample one of the pages in a digital download. This is a great way to build up the list because it’s free and you are creating awareness around a new product that you are launching or want to bring attention to.
