One of the biggest questions I get is how do I stay motivated in my business? How do I stay consistent? What keeps me going? The answer to this is showing up for me and my goals.
It’s all about owning who you are and what you bring to the table.
Being consistent is very aligned with showing up for your business. I want to share with you a few tips I have for consistency and how you can make it a regular thing.
Figure out your goal
When you think of being consistent, what does that really mean for you? What would the perfect level of consistency look like?
Is it showing up on social media a certain amount of times per week? Is it creating new products to roll out over the next year? Once you know what your goal is it makes it easier to create a plan of action.
The step-by-step
Once you know your goal it’s time to figure out how to get there. What are the bite-size actions that you can take to get to your goal?
Take time to do a bit of research to figure out what steps you need to take. Once you know those steps plan them out in a reasonable amount of time that will allow you to see your progress. As you get closer to your end goal, that’s progress and that is consistency.
Pick One Thing
When I first started The Stationery Muse, I opened my shop with two products. A daily A5 planner insert pack and a 2-Daily A5 planner insert pack. That’s it!
Today, almost five years later, you’ll find not only planner inserts but stickers, mugs, shirts, accessories, and so much more. This was a gradual process. I started small and allowed my business to grow into what it would be.
When it comes to being more consistent with your business, it’s important to start small. You don’t have to launch a website with 50 products, just a few will be enough until you get your ground.
It’s so easy to compare yourself to other established businesses and think WOW I’m so behind but the reality is they are in a different part of their journey than you. You’re at the beginning of your journey, remember that. Be solid in knowing that you will get there too. It’s ok to start with what you have, where you are, right now.
Don’t compare
In today’s social media age it’s so easy to be influenced into “the goal” or “the right way”. The thing is there is no RIGHT WAY and there’s not just ONE GOAL. Each of us bring a unique story to this world that is our own.
The way you get there can look very different compared to the next person. I say all of this to encourage you to not let what others do or say stop you from YOUR PATH.
Show Up
It’s truly a commitment to decide you want to be an entrepreneur. Essentially, it’s taking on a new mindset full of discipline, passion, and responsibility. Just like you clock in for your job and start working, you have to give that same dedication to your business. To see it grow and thrive you have to show up. Make it important to yourself just like you would with anything else.
If you don’t allow yourself the time to focus on your business, that defeats the hope of being consistent. Set aside time to do tasks for your business that will push you forward. As the weeks go on, that little by little progress will grow into you eventually launching your business. That’s consistent! That’s success! You can do this!
See you next time.
Best Wishes,
Tatiana
The don’t compare one is super important. I literally have to take social media fasts/cleanses to not continuously fall into that pit of comparison.
Same here! We unknowingly start being a certain way just because of social media. I can’t wait to take my next break lol.
