If you’ve been feeling like you’re at a low point in life and struggling to keep the momentum going with your business this is for you. All too often life comes at us fast and we aren’t always ready for what that brings. In this episode, Tatiana shares how she stays motivated even in the toughest seasons as well as how to prepare for hard times.

Life is going to have its crazy seasons. It will make you feel all over the place, just barely making it each day. Then when you add in the business you’re trying to run it becomes another level of pressure that can be hard to manage.

When I am dealing with difficult seasons these are some of the ways that I prioritize myself during times when it feels like things are falling apart.

Prayer + Believing
This wasn’t mentioned in the episode but seeking God or what you believe is important. Sometimes things will happen to us and we have no idea what to do next. I always pray for guidance and understanding when I am dealing with hard things. I pray for clarity in my situation and the grace to allow myself and others to make out better than we were before.

Believing that things will get better can be hard but you would probably give that advice to someone else, right? So take it for yourself.

Repeat this. Bad things won’t last forever. This season is one of growth and learning more about who I am and what I’m here to do. I will make it out of this stronger. I will make it out of this better.

Create A Minimum Show-Up Level
When going through, make a decision on what’s the minimum amount you can do during the difficult time. It could be just enough to post a little each week, maybe still sending out a newsletter, possibly just working with existing clients only and pausing calls for new ones.

Decide what makes the most sense for you and your business.

PRO TIP: Even if you’re not in a tough season you can still take time out to set yourself up for when these times do happen. Film extra content, write extra blog posts, and design new things when you’re feeling motivated. That way you will be set up for times when you are feeling low and you can still complete your minimum show-up level.

Comeback Time
Always decide when you plan to come back to your business. If you’re dealing with a difficult time and you know you’ll need a few days, weeks, or even months, pick a date to revisit your business. This won’t work if your business is your main thing but works really well if it’s on the side. There can be seasons where you step away or do less but always have a date for your return.

When you have this comeback time, it’s a little less intimidating to get back into the swing of things because you have an anticipated time to come back.

Protect Your Energy
It goes without saying that when things are falling apart any negativity can make it even worse. Decide if you need to step away from certain things to protect your feelings during this time.

If social media is triggering, take a break or limit the usage.

If there are people in your life that suck your energy or aren’t supportive cut communication for a while.

During this time it’s all about making sure that you are able to do what you need to do and that anything taking away from your happiness isn’t necessary.

So keep those things at an arm’s length. At least in this season as you are getting stronger and working through it all.

Delegate
In order to deal with tough times our capacity just might not be the same. If that’s the case, take some things off your plate by delegating to someone else or going about completion a different way.

Maybe instead of you doing meal planning, you use a meal delivery service. Instead of you cleaning the entire house yourself, tell your husband or significant other to help pick up the slack.

Be easy on yourself and realize you DON’T have to do it all. You’re already dealing with a lot so don’t make it harder on yourself. And typically we have people around us who are ready to support us but have been turned down in the past.

Do you ever just feel like you have to handle everything? That is not at all the right move to make in any season. It can be hard to ask for help and make this adjustment but it makes a world of a difference mentally for us all. Plus, when you free up that time it gives you a chance to breathe and opens up room for new ideas and maybe even motivation for the business.

Create Boundaries
If you have shown up for everything in a past season but feel like it’s too much right now set that boundary. I have had to cut down on communication with friends when I am going through difficult decisions. Not because the friends were negative but because I just didn’t feel like talking. There are times when I just don’t feel like I have any more to give to anyone and so I take some time to go inward.

Tune in to how you’re feeling when things come up. If you aren’t into it then the answer can simply be no. If you are involved in extra things that now feel draining it might be time to put them on the back burner for a while.

As well as, having protected time that is just for YOU. This can be a time when you do the things you love, work on the business, and just be.

Have A Strong Why
Lastly, always have a reason for why you’re doing what you do that’s bigger than making money. What legacy are you trying to create? What impact are you trying to leave in people’s lives? These are the things that will keep you wanting to come back despite the setbacks and rough patches in your life.
